Last week I took my first set of genre photos. These aren't meant to be used in the final magazine, they're just to mess around with, and thank god for that because mine were definitely not magazine-ready. Before taking these photos, I wanted to more or less show the process of baking as well as some creative shots using the final product. I also wanted to play with different angles and with my editing.
Here are some photos I took:

This one is definitely my favorite by far. I really wanted to show the ingredients I used and I thought that an aerial shot was the way to go. I was right. It was really hard to manipulate the light so that the shadows weren't taking over the entire shot, but I think I made it work. This photo was also I trial run for my editing and using colors, so I tried to make the colors pop. I did do that, but I think I might have overdone it. Also some of the ingredients are stacked on each other so it doesn't do a great job on showing what I used so I might edit labels on the photo for my real magazine.

Here's a photo of the dough half-made and my friend pouring flour into it. I really like the background, my friends hand and the bowl. I do think that I should be careful with the bowl's reflection since you can see our torso's in it. I think I should also include the full stand mixer.

This shot is pretty much the same as the last one, but with chocolate chips instead of flour. In my actual magazine I'm going to try to have some more diversity in my shots. I don't really like this picture. The line where the wall meets the countertop is slanted and the camera itself is too. It is definitely not magazine material and it really just looks like a regular person taking a regular photo of them making cookies. This one is overall just not great.

This photo would've been a lot better if I had changed a lot of things. For starters, I tries using portrait mode, but the bad camera I used just made it look unintentional and sloppy. I also didn't put the full wine glass in the picture and I honestly don't really like how it looks. The milk has a yellow-ish tint to it which honestly makes it look really unappetizing. Some feedback that I got on this one was to like the stem up with the wall in the background in the middle. I was told that it would make the picture a lot more clean. I like the little pot in the background, but my teacher told me that it created too much clutter and looked unintentional. I think I could fix all of those things easily, but for right now the shot just doesn't look good at all.

This photo is just really simple. I tried to get a lot of brown in the shot to make my magazine seem warm and cozy. I also included my dog in it just because I thought it was funny, but I wouldn't include him in my final magazine. My classmates told me to make sure I kept the shot neat and to take out the chairs in the back as well as make sure the mirror is clear. Even though I was trying to make it homey I do agree with what they said.
I took some more photos, but a lot of them are the same thing over and over again, so I'm not going to put those here. Another thing I was told was that I didn't include enough final product photos and I will be doing that for the real magazine. Anyway, that's all I have to say, so thanks for reading!!
